On Friday 29th April 2016, FutAcademy visited the Casa Hogar "Ejercito de Salvación" in Pedregal area of the city. It was a very humbling experience for the FutAcademy coaches, to see so many wonderful children so enthusiastic and overjoyed at the prospect of first, participating in our activities, and secondly, receiving the many toys and clothes greatfully donated by our community.
At around 3:30pm the FutAcademy coaches arrived at the venue and to much amusement and excitement, the children began to approach them, smiling and laughing at the fact none of them understood what they were talking about! The language barrier was proving very comical. Thankfully, there were many assistnats on hand to help with translating and not before long, all children, and a few adults were fuly engrossed in the football activities the coaches had planned.
T-shirts were handed out to the children at the beginning of the day, and at the presentation as night drew in, each child was presented with a "mochila" stuffed with toys donated by families from our 5 football schools.
The bags were interchanged for a drawing each child had made for the coaches.
It was a truly magnificent afternoon and very humbling to see the excitement on each and every child´s face. We hope to collaborate more often on community projects around Mexico in the future.
